Bus arrangements for Sunday, 1 October a road closure in Williamstown affecting service 172 to Aberdare.

Temporary bus arrangements will be in place in Williamstown on Sunday due to a road closure at School Street for resurfacing work.

The scheme will take place on Sunday, October 1, 8am-6pm – at School Street’s junction with Mountain Road.

An alternative route for motorists is available via Blanche Street, Caroline Street and Mountain Road.

Access will not be maintained for emergency services, but will be maintained for pedestrians. Access to premises will also be maintained. Cyclists should dismount and use the pedestrian access.

During the closure, Stagecoach Service 122 (Maerdy-Cardiff) and Service 172 (Aberdare-Porthcawl) will be unable to serve Williamstown, Edmondstown and Trebanog.

Both services will divert via the A4119 and A4233, resuming their normal route in both directions at Capel Hill Stores (Service 122) and at Brentan Villa, Collenna Road (Service 172) respectively.

Two free shuttle bus services will serve Williamstown, Edmondstown and Trebanog, in place of Service 122 and Service 172 – both operating from the Glamorgan Bus Stop on Brook Street, Williamstown.

The 122A shuttle bus will meet Service 122 at Capel Hill Stores in both directions, for onward travel to Talbot Green and Cardiff.

The 172A shuttle bus will meet Service 172 at Brentan Villa, Collenna Road in both directions, for onward travel to Bridgend, Porthcawl, Tonypandy and Aberdare.

The shuttle bus will be operated by Bella Road Services (01443 226992) and will run to the following timetable which has been advertised locally.
