End the delay on coal tip safety legislation

Commenting on the news that coal tip repairs may further delay action to improve safety, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Social Partnership said:

“The Labour Government in Wales has received millions from the UK Conservative Government to tackle the many disused coal tips which present a real safety issue for people in the valleys, but ultimately the responsibility lies with Labour to get this sorted.

“Three years ago, a review began into disused coal tips legislation. We are still waiting for this and for much-needed action from Labour.

“People living in valley communities are scared, the party supposed to be representing these former mining towns has seemingly abandoned them. Labour Ministers need to end the dither and delay and get on with introducing coal tip safety legislation.”
