Labour council climate hypocrisy

Labour council climate hypocrisy

It has been revealed that Cardiff Council are looking into buying diesel recycling trucks, a move that is hypocritical of its net zero objectives.  Commenting on the news, Welsh Conservative Shadow Climate Change Minister, Janet Finch Saunders MS said:

Welsh Labour Climate hypocrisy.

“Labour Cardiff Council has been exposed for their climate hypocrisy. Despite proclaiming a climate emergency and imposing their moral superiority on others, they are actually contributing to further pollution within their own city.

“It is imperative for Labour to enhance the grid capacity at Lamby Way. We should strive to meet the targets set by the UK Conservative Government of eliminating new fossil fuel vehicles by 2030. Cardiff Council should lead by example, but instead, the Labour Council is setting a dismal precedent and disappointing the city they represent.

“When it comes to the climate crisis, Labour is all talk and no action. On the other hand, the Welsh Conservatives are determined to pursue ambitious solutions. We advocate for the establishment of giga-factories and the expansion of offshore wind projects. Meanwhile, Labour seem to believe that relying on diesel trucks and implementing a universal 20mph speed limit is the way forward.”
