Transport for Wales extends Treherbert line shutdown by two months

Plans to close the Treherbert line were originally estimated to take 8 months, but now a new press release has now estimated the closure to be 10 months

Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport Natasha Asghar MS said:

“The introduction of a 50% discount on the Treherbert line will come as little solace for the passengers who rely on this service to get them to work on time, especially when replacement buses are notoriously late and often do not show up at all.

“Originally the service was advertised as closing for 8 months, with only one month’s notice given, but now the news from Transport for Wales today states that a 10-month closure is now planned, effective from the 29th of April.

“How much longer will this be extended by next? I suspect we will be waiting more than a year for the re-opening of the line, which is unacceptable for people struggling to commute.”
