There are 45,000 fewer people working in Wales than the same time last year.

Is it the lack of infrastructure keeping Wales back, Labour unmotivated when it comes to road building and public transport?

Fall in Welsh employment is a result of Labour mismanagement

There were 25,000 fewer people working in Wales between June and August than the previous three months, according to the Office for National Statistics data. Jobs as a result of foreign direct investment (FDI) has fallen by 41%.

Commenting on the news, Welsh Conservative Shadow Economy Minister, Paul Davies MS said:

“Falling employment is not just a number for economists to pour over. These are Welsh livelihoods being lost and left behind by a Labour Government intent on ignoring people’s priorities.

“Labour have many of the economic levers in their grasp, they can and should be doing more to attract investment into Wales. The collapse in foreign direct investment jobs is shocking and unacceptable.

“Attracting investment and promoting growth should be the main focus of the Labour Government here in Wales. Instead, their priorities include introducing a new tourism tax and spending £100 million on more politicians in Cardiff Bay.”

There are 45,000 fewer people working in Wales than the same time last year. Wales saw the second steepest fall in employment of the UK’s nations and regions.
