Welsh Ambulance Service to host Board meeting featuring staff story from a 111 Call Handler

THE Welsh Ambulance Service will host its bi-monthly Trust Board meeting next week.

The Trust’s Executive and Non-Executive Directors will convene next Thursday 27 January in a virtual event held on the Zoom platform.

Proceedings will be broadcast live with members of the public invited to attend and submit questions in advance which will be addressed during the meeting.

A highlight of the meeting will be a Staff Story from an NHS 111 Wales nurse who will share her reflections of working through the pandemic and the challenges it has presented to her.

Chair Martin Woodford and Chief Executive Jason Killens will both give an update on progress and agenda items will cover a range of topics as the service continues to work through both current pressures and accelerate its plans for the future.

Martin said: “We are again pleased to invite along all our stakeholders and as many of the general public as possible to hear of how we are progressing during these very challenging times for the entire health care system in Wales.

“Apart from reviewing our regular progress reports on performance, in what is proving an extremely challenging year, we will also be spending a significant amount of time on our future plans, including a discussion with our commissioners who will be attending the meeting.

“We look forward to another lively, open and informative discussion and hope to hear from the public on ambulance issues affecting them.”

The Board meeting is from 9.30am-1.30pm, and the link to register for a place is here.

You can also pre-submit a question for the Board by emailing AMB_AskUs@wales.nhs.uk by no later than Wednesday 26 January, and members will endeavour to answer these during the course of proceedings.

A full agenda will be available on the Trust’s website in the coming days.
