Mountain Ash Comprehensive School raise £450 for Tenovus Cancer Care Together Stronger

Tenovus Cancer Care, Wales’ leading cancer charity, partnered with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) and launched two limited-edition wristbands for this summer’s European Championship. The wristbands were very popular with the pupils at Mountain Ash Comprehensive school who supported the partnership and raised an incredible £450 for the charity.

With these special wristbands, the pupils showed their support for the Cymru team at the tournament, while helping those affected by cancer in Wales.

This is not the first time the school has supported the charity. In October, which is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the pupils supported Tenovus Cancer Care’s Go Pink campaign, raising £290.

Mr Church, who kindly organised the sale of the charity wristbands throughout the school, is thrilled with their success and would like to thank everyone who has supported the campaign.

Mr Church said: “I’m so pleased that we sold 450 wristbands and raised another spectacular amount for Tenovus Cancer Care. The pupils here really are amazing, and it was lovely to see them so enthusiastic about not only supporting the Cymru team but also Tenovus Cancer Care.”

Ceri Hill, Regional Fundraising Manager at Tenovus Cancer Care, said: “We’re delighted with all of the support from the pupils and staff at Mountain Ash Comprehensive school. It’s an incredible achievement to have sold 450 wristbands and raised such a fantastic amount for the charity, we really are very grateful for the school’s ongoing support.

“It was lovely to see so many students support Tenovus Cancer Care and the Cymru team.  Since the beginning of the pandemic, the charity has needed the support of people in communities more than ever and we’re so thankful for all they have done to help raise awareness and vital funds for Tenovus Cancer Care.”

Even though Wales has left the tournament you can still get the limited-edition wristbands for a £1 charitable donation. You can purchase them by visiting one of 38 Tenovus Cancer Care shops, 175 local Co-ops across Wales or the Tenovus Cancer Care eBay store https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/tenovuscancercare
