CRIME ALERT | RHONDDA | BOGUS CALLER IN VACCINE SCAM
Police in Rhondda are warning residents and urging people to be vigilant following a report from an elderly resident who was targeted by a bogus caller offering a Covid-19 vaccine.
The incident occurred at 11pm on Tuesday, 12 January, in Pentre – the woman, who is 89 year-old, realised it was a scam and closed the door on the man who has been described as tall and thin, and wearing an anorak. It is believed he made off on foot.
There are concerns that other people may have been targeted in the same way and people are urged to report suspicious activity and to be vigilant.
People should also look out for vulnerable neighbours and relatives.
Reminder from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board:
All eligible adults in the priority groups will be invited to make an appointment through the NHS. Most people will be contacted by their GPs to be offered their vaccine. Local Health Boards will never ask for money or bank details.
