Welsh Conservatives call for investigation into Cwm Taf Coronavirus deaths
Another three people have died with Coronavirus following outbreaks at hospitals in the Cwm Taf Health Board area.
The Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant, Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, and the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend have each reported the death of a patient. This brings the total number who have died at the three hospitals to 26.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies MS, said:
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the families of those who have tragically died due to outbreaks associated with the three hospitals in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area.
“Sadly, a very troubling and concerning picture is developing at these hospitals, and this will be compounded by today's announcement that the opening of the Covid field hospital in the region is to be delayed.
“Frontline staff are doing an incredible job in challenging circumstances, but they must be supported by competent management at both a health board and ministerial level.
"There are serious concerns and questions that need to be answered, and as such I implore the Health Minister to commission an immediate investigation into the situation at Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board.”
