Furloughed, laid-off, self-employed & out-of-work given financial lifeline by care firm

THOSE currently fit and healthy but unable to work following business closures and Coronavirus restrictions can earn money in their own community with a Welsh care firm (April, 2020).

Abacare says it can offer full training and paid work immediately to anyone willing to become a professional home carer as it desperately needs to fill care roles in Wales.

Neil Griffiths, Regional Manager at Abacare, which has offices in Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) and provides care in the surrounding areas, said: “We’re an essential service provider, offering physical and emotional care to some of the nation’s most vulnerable and elderly. It’s our role to ensure these people stay at home safely and do not have to use the NHS during the COVID-19 crisis.

“It is imperative we support the NHS and that our frontline care staff are able to cope with the demands we’re anticipating in the coming months. It is vital we shield those who are in the high-risk category identified by the Government and that we continue to offer them the very best of support and care in their own homes.

“We’re calling on anyone who needs work and feels they can help us to get in touch immediately. If you’ve previously been in a customer-facing environment, then you will have all the skills already that we urgently need and we can give you full, professional training. You will be doing amazing work supporting those most in need, while, also, helping protect the NHS, and you can do all this while supporting your dependents and yourself financially.”

Abacare is urging anyone who needs full-time or part-time, flexible paid work and who has recently been made redundant, furloughed or laid-off, or who is looking for work for other reasons, to get in touch for an interview.

Neil added: “We will do these via Skype or Facetime, so you don’t have to leave home unnecessarily. If you are fit and well and want to make a real difference to people’s lives and wish to support the NHS during this crisis, we can train you quickly.

“Please call our RCT branch on 01443 742645. Our office team will be able to have a chat with you and they will be able to set up interviews via Skype or Facetime to talk you through everything.

“We will be able to provide our free, full training on a fast-track basis to make sure everyone we take on is ready. This includes a company induction, first aid, information on dementia, health and safety, food safety, infection control, handling medication and moving and handling service users, with the opportunity to achieve Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) after the initial three months probationary period. The Government has also taken steps to ensure a quicker turnaround on DBS checks, so we can get people into work even quicker.

“New recruits are given free uniforms, access to national staff discount scheme for all major brands as well as 28 days paid holiday, paid travel between calls and paid mileage.”
