Ken Skates: on thin ice over investigation?
Commenting on the published story that Clwyd South AM and Transport Minister Ken Skates is being investigated for a possible breach of government rules over funding for a bus service in his own constituency, a Welsh Conservative spokesperson said:
“The constituents of Clwyd South, and the entire electorate of Wales, will need reassurance that this investigation into a possible breach of the Ministerial Code will be carried out fully and transparently.
“We expect that Mr Skates’ case will be investigated by his party’s leader in Wales, the First Minister Mark Drakeford, as a matter of urgency.”
The spokesperson said that Shadow Transport Minister, Russell George AM, had written to the First Minister seven weeks ago to bring this matter to his attention. The spokesperson added that on November 20, Mr George received a response from the First Minister saying: ‘The referral is being looked into the normal way.’
The spokesperson concluded by saying:
“ I think all in Clwyd South, and elsewhere in Wales, will want to know the outcome of this investigation, if the investigation is complete, and if not then when it will be.”
