Ynys section of the National Cycle Network is again blocked by floodwater

Once again part the 478 of the National Cycle Network is again blocked by floodwater also a well used Public Right of Way from Aberdare to Cwmbach. The flooding at this point is a well-established problem and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is aware of this.

Reported again on Twitter yesterday the resident reporting there were no warning signage of impending flooding blocking the Public Right of Way and no diversion signage in place.

Why is this happening almost every time we have substantial rainfall? The council has spent thousands on numerous water pumps that without the thousands in labour costs to install and maintain and 24/7 running costs that don’t work the system is not fit for purpose but its costing council taxpayers is it just wasting public money?

Why is there no alternative method of passing this point or alternative drainage other than submergible water pumps? Do the council need to look at alternative way of passing this point or a different drainage substitute.

With the coming of the Metro new railway lines will be introduced that will be a good opportunity to sort the problem out once and for all without the need of pumps running 24/7.
