Theatr Brycheiniog Celebrates the Talents of Welsh Poets, Musicians and Dancers this Autumn!

This Autumn the works of some of the biggest Welsh authors and poets is showcased through two brand new shows; Welsh Gold | Aur Cymru’s Made in Wales and Ballet Cymru’s A Child’s Christmas, Poems and Tiger Eggs by Dylan Thomas!

On Saturday 6 October a group of Welsh actors and musicians will take to the theatre’s stage to share their passion for the words and music of Wales. Glenda Clwyd, Phylip Harries, Lowri-Ann Richards and Sean Williams came together to lament the fact that only a fraction of Welsh poetry ever reaches mainstream arts audiences, and  that is where Made in Wales was born!

Made in Wales will be performed in both Welsh and English and will stage poetry with lighting, music, percussion and projections to celebrate the works of some of Wales’ greats from the sixth century up to the present day. The works of Wilfred Owen, Owen Sheers, Dylan Thomas, Hedd Wyn and Rowan Williams to list just a few, will take audiences to a land of beauty and passion, of lament and rapture, and of anger and pain.

‘Made in Wales is a meeting of so many arts forms. You’ve got music including sound design, poetry, theatre and all these things join together to make a wonderful experience. It’s powerful and tells a story, one I won’t forget in a long time.’ Catrin Finch

Dylan Thomas’ timeless classic A Child’s Christmas in Wales provided the inspiration for Ballet Cymru’s brand new show A Child’s Christmas Poems and Tiger Eggs by Dylan Thomas. Theatr Brycheiniog will welcome this ballet to their stage on the first night of its extensive autumn tour around Wales and England on Friday 12 October.

The show will feature pre-recorded narration by Welsh icon Cerys Matthew, and music by producer and multi instrumentalist Mason Neely. Choreographing the piece is Creative Wales Award winner Darius James and Amy Doughty, the choreographers behind last year’s The Light Princess.

This timeless story will be brought to life using explosive dance, physical theatre, classical ballet, visual projections and stunning eloquent costumes. Step into the imagination of a genius and join the theatre for a journey through snow, cats and melancholy!
