Make a Splash for Cash at the Aberdare Welly Walk

Dust off your wackiest pair of Wellies and join Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales on the 6th October in making a splash for cash as part of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month (CPAM).

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common disabilities in children and affects an estimated 1,800 children in Wales. Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales provides specialist therapy and treatment to children across Wales living with cerebral palsy. The charity not only supports the children but gives families practical advice and emotional support if they need it.

The Aberdare Welly Walks is an annual event run by the Cardiff based charity that is open and accessible to all ages and abilities. The 1.5 mile walk, which has been taking place in Dare Valley Country Park for over 8 years, will give the opportunity for families to come together and raise money for Bobath Wales. Registration will take place at 10.30am, followed by a fun ‘Welly Warm Up’ at 10.45 before the main event kicks off with a splash at 11am.

This year, the charity needs to raise £1.5million to keep the centre running. Over three-quarters of this total needs to come from fundraising activity, which is why community events such as the Welly Walks play a vital role in ensuring the charity can continue the work we do to improve the lives of children across Wales who have cerebral palsy.

Claire Brown, Corporate Relationship and Fundraising Manager, would like to thank everyone who has previously been involved with the Aberdare Welly Walk. “this fantastic event is fun for all of the family, no matter what age. We would like to thank Bobath volunteer Sue Jones and the Cwm Crafters for all of their support with arranging the Welly Walk and for their ongoing amazing support for Bobath Wales in the Aberdare area”

Welly Walk tickets are £3 each or £10 for a family of 4 and can be purchased online via www.bobathwales.org, by calling the fundraising team on 02920 522600 or on the day of the walk itself.
