Nos Galan 2018 Registration Update

On your marks! The first phase of the online registration for the 2018 Nos Galan Road Races will be opening on Monday, September 10, at 10am, and anyone interested in participating in the Road Races is urged to apply early to avoid disappointment.

Despite being more than four months away, places are always snapped up quickly in the build up to the award-winning annual event and, for 2018, race registration fees have been frozen.

Race registration fees for 2018 are £10 (affiliated athletes); £12 (non-affiliated athletes); £6 (children).  A further announcement will be provided in the run-up to the opening of the second phase of online registration.

Please be aware that there will also be an amended route for this year’s Nos Galan Road Races due to the construction of the multi-million-pound Cross Valley Link – this new route will be published on www.nosgalan.co.uk. Please see video below:

Chair of the Nos Galan Committee, Councillor Ann Crimmings, who is also Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said: “Registration for the 2018 Nos Galan Road Races will soon be made available online in two phases, with the first commencing on September 10, at 10am.

“There is always a high demand for race places, given the growing popularity of the event, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is a real highlight of Rhondda Cynon Taf’s calendar.

“This year is the 60th anniversary of the event so we are certain to attract a huge amount of interest from across Wales and beyond for this special occasion, and I’d urge anyone looking to participate in the Road Races to get your registration in early.

“Further details will be released in the run-up to the opening of the second phase of registration, so keep an eye on the both the Nos Galan and the RCT Council website for updates.”

The Nos Galan Road Races take place in Mountain Ash on December 31 each year, in memory of legendary Welsh runner Griffith Morgan (Guto Nyth Bran).

Please note: There will be no race registration on the night.

Please note: All race places are non-transferable. Anyone found to be taking part using another person’s unique race number identity will be disqualified.
