“My family has had personal experiences of the excellent palliative care at Y Bwthyn and it is great to hear of the developments as it'll have such a huge impact on the community. There's still time to sign up and join hundreds of other walkers to be part of something amazing.”
Since the first walk in 2008, the Rhondda Walk has raised approximately £250k and the ambition of this year’s walks (including the Llantrisant walk) to raise £50K for the new Y Bwthyn Specialist Care Unit at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.
Nicola Newhams, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Rhondda Cynon Taff, said: “We are so grateful to the communities of the Rhondda Valleys who come out in force to support the annual Rhondda Walk – whether walking, volunteering of cheering on our walkers, they really make the event extra special.
“We are hoping this year’s walk will be our biggest and best to date. Not only are we celebrating our tenth anniversary but we’re also walking to help build the new Y Bwthyn Specialist Care Unit”
