South Wales Police launches ‘Young at Art’ competition

South Wales Police is always looking for new ways to engage with the public we serve…and we want your help to be able to do so!

We’re looking for children’s artwork which will help us promote some of our important crime prevention top tips.

We’re running an art competition for children in the South Wales Police force area – with the winners earning the opportunity for themselves and their classmates to have a VIP visit to South Wales Police Headquarters to meet some of our dogs and horses, and have a police car visit their school.

To enter, we’d love to see your entries, which must be based on one of these three themes:

  • Police and their sidekicks (police horses, dogs etc)
  • Police in the future
  • Police in your local community

Entries can include English and/or Welsh text.

The competition is open to children aged seven and above, split into two categories – KS2 (school years 3-6) and KS3 and 4 (school years 7-11).

The winners and some of the other entries will be reproduced by South Wales Police, but, in order to do so, please make sure your entries are not 3D and don’t include collages, glitter, or anything else that cannot easily be converted into a digital format. Paint and/or coloured pens are preferred! Ideally, entries should also be A4 size.

Please send your entries to South Wales Police Art Competition, Communications Team, Cowbridge Road, Bridgend, CF31 3SU, or email swpdigital@south-wales.pnn.police.uk. Include your name, age, teacher’s name, school name, address, parent/guardian contact details and telephone number.

The closing date is Wednesday, April 18, at 5pm, and the winning designs will then be chosen. The judges will look for the most eye-catching designs, with the winners being announced by Friday, May 4.
