Health and wellbeing key to starting the year in a positive way

As 2018 gets into full swing, Newydd Housing Association is encouraging its householders and communities to ‘Get Hapi’ and take a positive step towards having a happy and healthy year to enjoy.

This campaign is inspired by Newydd’s Healthy, Aspiring, Prosperous and Inclusive (Hapi) project, which is a wellbeing scheme that empowers people to make the right choices when it comes to their overall health and well-being.

By embracing the optimism of its Hapi project, Newydd will be sharing advice and tips on weight loss, stress management and getting fit throughout January.

Paul Roberts, Chief Executive for Newydd said, “The ‘Get Hapi’ campaign is all about how we can make 2018 a happy year; whether that’s through losing that Christmas weight, joining a running group or leaving work on time, it all matters. The Hapi project is about empowerment, that chance to take ownership of your health and wellbeing in the long term.

“We hope that over the course of January, our tenants, their families and friends, as well as our local communities get involved in our campaign to show that by taking the first step to fitness – mentally or physically – it can make a difference.”

The Hapi project has received more than £750,000 of funding from the Big Lottery People and Places in October 2017 to extend the project across Rhondda Cynon Taf, with the aim to offer support to 5,500 people over the next five years. The project has already worked with over 1,400 people in the Taf Ely area and will continue to provide holistic service which fills the gap in their existing health and wellbeing services.
