A Level Results 2017 St John Baptist Church in Wales High School
Students at St John Baptist Church in Wales High School have attained excellent ‘A’ level results again this year. Students have worked extremely hard and have achieved great success.
The following pupils have achieved top A*/A grades:
Last year’s Head Boy, Jonathan Saunders will be going to Imperial College London to study Bio Chemistry having attained 2 A*s in Biology and Maths, 2 As in Chemistry and Physics and the WBQ. He is currently on a mission with the church in Brazil helping children along with George Lewis and Matthew Shaw who have also done very well in their ‘A’ levels.
Last year’s Deputy Head Boy, Tomos Walters will be going to Birmingham to study Politics and International Relations. He is excited and looking forward to this. He has worked with great determination to achieve an A* in English Literature, 2As in History and Religious Studies and the WBQ.
Ben Hardcastle achieved an A* in Maths, 2 As in Physics and Chemistry and the WBQ and will be studying Mechanical Engineering in Loughborough. Robin Kingston-Evans is also going to Loughborough to study Chemical Engineering.
Olivia Makin achieved A*s in Art, History and an A in English Literature and will now be going to Loughborough to study Fine Art. Olivia thanked her teachers for all their support.
Amelia Morgan-Gumm achieved superb results and with her A* in Maths, A in Further Maths and A in Physics will be studying Theoretical Physics in University College London.
Sian Miles is delighted to be going to Cardiff University to study Psychology and Chloe Moody will be in Aberystwyth University following her good grades in Art, Biology and English. Last year’s Head Girl, Rachel Kathrens received a scholarship to study English Literature and performing Arts in Aberystwyth and Callum Samuel who organised the funding for the school defibrillator will be studying Business Management in University of South Wales.
Jacob Morris also achieved top grades in English and Maths.

‘We are proud of all our students and I am thrilled at the success that our students have achieved. They have worked so diligently and the hard work has resulted in students now being able to go onto the next stage. Our A level results day has been wonderful! It is lovely to see so many happy faced. The vast majority of our students have chosen to go to university and it is such an exciting time for them. On behalf of our school community, I wish them continued success in the future. Students have been supported by the staff at the school and I thank staff for the advice that has been given to our students throughout their time at St John’s’.
Pupils in Year 12 also performed well in their ‘AS’ examinations. Head boy David Anthony achieved 4 As in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics.
