ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS – TOO FUNNY!

ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS – TOO FUNNY!

Black RAT Productions will present the hit comedy drama One Man, Two Guvnors at The Coliseum Theatre Aberdare Tuesday 17 October and The Park & Dare Theatre Saturday 21 October.    Formed in 2007 and celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year, Black RAT Productions is proud to create and tour dynamic and accessible theatre.

This original version of Richard Bean’s fast-paced, riotous farce with music by Grant Oldfield is set in Brighton in the swinging 60s. Directed by Richard Tunley, the hilarious production is based on the book The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni. The play famously starred James Corden when it was first performed in the West End.

Plot

Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall is at the centre of the production’s plot when he becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood, now in Brighton to collect £6,000 from the dad of his fiancée… But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who has been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers!

Holed up at The Cricketers Arms, the permanently ravenous Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with one Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be reunited with Rachel. To prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart.

Featuring a fun mix of songs, slapstick and brilliant one-liners, the production is a theatrical experience of exceptional comedy timing.

Cast

A talented group of some of Wales’ finest comedy actors make up the cast. The company are delighted to welcome back Black RAT favourite Gareth John Bale who will play the lead role of Francis Henshall. Sarah- Jayne Hopkins also returns as Dolly returning to Black RAT following her successful role as Gretchen in the production of Boeing Boeing by the company in 2013.

They will be joined by Lee Gilbert as Harry Dangle, Phylip Harries as Charlie Clench, James Lawrence as Stanley Stubbers, Daniel Miles as Alan Dangle, Caryl Morgan as Rachel Crabbe, Alice Strachan as Pauline Clench and Chris Tummings as Lloyd Boateng.

The production is designed by Anne Marie Hainsworth with lighting design by Robin Bainbridge and musical direction by Rob Thorne.
