Open Doors In Rhondda Cynon Taf

An exciting series of Open Doors events are taking place across Rhondda Cynon Taf throughout the month of September.

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the Welsh Mining Experience, Rhondda Heritage Park? Would you like to know the history of the Taff’s Well Thermal Spring?

Open Doors events grant access to areas that may not usually be open to the public at many historical buildings across Rhondda Cynon Taf. Events also give a fascinating insight into workings of these buildings.

Many of the events are delivered by local experts who have volunteered their own time to help tell the stories of subjects very dear to them.

Take a trip to the Grey Trees Independent Craft Brewers, visit Nantgarw China Works, take part in the Heritage Trail Bike Ride, visit the many churches around Rhondda Cynon Taf, and much more.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, with responsibility for Heritage and visitor attractions, said: “Once again, Open Doors 2017 provides a packed programme of events, which not only allow the public to access to many historical buildings, but guides also tell the story of how these buildings first came about.

“Rhondda Cynon Taf is a County Borough with a rich heritage and Open Doors allows us to showcase this to a wider audience.”
