Pupil Voice and Children’s Rights at St John’s
2 of our Year 9 pupils, Rhys Webb and Sarah Jane Lloyd accompanied Assistant Headteacher Mr Toghill to Ysgol Bro Edern in Cardiff to meet the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Sally Holland.
The day consisted of pupil workshops linked to Children's Rights in Wales, a Q and A session with Mrs Holland tackling issues ranging from gender equality to refugees, and a presentation from 8 schools focusing on some of the rights of the child contained in The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child or UNCRC. The day was a great success with the opportunity for sharing good practice, promoting the importance of pupil voice in shaping the future of Welsh education and how Children's Rights can be embedded into all aspects of school life.
Congratulation to both Rhys and Sarah – Jane who were fantastic ambassadors for our school.
