Study ranks Welsh education bottom of UK league table
Responding to news a study compiled as part of the EU Regional Social Progress Index has ranked Welsh education bottom of UK league table, Welsh Conservative Shadow Secretary for Education, Darren Millar AM, said:
“It is nothing short of a scandal that this latest study places Wales’ education system at the bottom of the UK league table.
“While Carwyn Jones has admitted his Labour Party took their eye of the ball on education in the past, it appears to be abundantly clear that their eyes are still looking in the wrong direction and letting down learners.
“The current system just isn’t delivering for our children, with the Labour-led Welsh Government remaining in a near-permanent state of denial.
“The Cabinet Secretary needs to implement urgent reform and bring parties together to work to address the shortcomings in the Welsh education system and ensure that our young people have the best possible chances in life.”
