New website to support Sports Volunteers in Wales
A new website to help volunteers in Wales start-up, grow and improve their sport club has been launched as part of national Volunteers’ Week (June 1st-12th).
With community clubs at the core of sport, the Club Solutions website is the first single hub of information to help volunteers run clubs in Wales.
Club Solutions includes information on core areas such as finance, facilities, promotion and people, with real life examples of how clubs have overcome challenges to be successful.
It comes in response to research which found volunteers often don’t know where to go for support and when they do get support it might not be exactly what they need.
“We have to support volunteers as much as we can and make their role as easy and enjoyable as we can as so many clubs in Wales exist thanks to the tireless efforts of those who give up their time and skills to make sport more accessible”, said Carwyn Young, volunteering lead at Sport Wales.
“Pulling together all the content for Club Solutions has been a real team effort for lots of different sporting organisations, in particular the governing bodies and lots of clubs themselves.
“It will be another asset for sport in Wales to continue growing and it will be regularly updated with the latest industry guidance.”
An online club assessment – much like a sport club health check – will be available to the 5,500 sports clubs in Wales to help them look at what their club does well and where it can improve.
Template documents, training events and information on safeguarding are all included on the new resource.
