Reduction in CSSIW regulated adult services and places identified in Wales

Commenting on new statistics, which show a reduction in the number of adult services and places regulated by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales, Clwyd West AM Darren Millar said:

“CSSIW decides who can provide social care services, and with an ageing population in Wales, any reduction in the availability of services and places is a cause for concern, particularly given the shortage of care home beds in some parts of Wales.

“We need a social care sector which promotes independence, offers affordable support and works hand-in-hand with the NHS.

“With regulated places in adult services have fallen by more than two percent in the last 12 months, it is clear that the availability and accessibility of services is a challenge which decision-makers in Wales must front up to.”
