Governance in the NHS in Wales – Memorandum for the Public Accounts Committee
This memorandum was prepared by the Auditor General for Wales to provide the Public Accounts Committee with information about the governance arrangements in NHS Wales, as part of the Committee’s consideration of evidence into the governance arrangements at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
Auditor General for Wales are publishing it now to coincide with the publication of Committee’s report entitled “Wider issues emanating from the governance review of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board” (external link). The memorandum describes the key components of governance arrangements in NHS Wales and the context within which they operate, reflecting the directions and guidance in operation at the time of finalising the document in April 2015. High-level commentary on how the governance arrangements within NHS bodies appeared to be working in practice is also included, based on our previous Structured Assessment work.
