HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED TO AFFECT NORTH WALES
Natural Resources Wales is asking people to continue to be alert and prepared for flooding as heavy and persistent rain is expected, especially over Snowdonia, later today and into Sunday morning (14 and 15 November).
There is still some uncertainty about the pattern of the rainfall, but NRW is keeping a close eye on the Dyfi, Elwy and Conwy catchments in particular.
In mid-Wales, there are concerns about the Vyrnwy and Severn catchments.
NRW issues Flood Alerts and Warnings when rivers reach trigger levels. There are currently (mid-day Saturday 14 November) four Flood Alerts on the river Elwy and people are advised to be particularly vigilant and prepared in these areas.
Scott Squires from Natural Resources Wales, said: “We’re advising people to take great care and to be prepared for flooding.
“The pattern of the rainfall over the next 36 hours will play a crucial part in our planning and in the risk of flooding.
“Our staff are out working putting measures in place to prepare for flooding. This includes erecting temporary flood barriers to protect areas at risk in St Asaph and Llanrwst.”
People are advised to keep an eye on weather reports and local news for details of any disruption in their area.
There is currently also a significant risk of widespread flooding of agricultural land.
