Ramblers Cymru calls for the freedom to explore

In response to the Welsh Government’s consultation on improving access to the outdoors for recreation, Ramblers Cymru is calling for Welsh Government to be ambitious and introduce the ‘freedom to explore’, giving people access to all of Wales’ countryside and coastline.

Ramblers Cymru is suggesting that Welsh Government can learn from the success of Scotland’s Land Reform Act, which was enshrined in law 12 years ago.

The response makes the case for the freedom to explore along with a strong statutory code of conduct, and protection for our path networks.  This will create opportunities for more people to walk more often, while the Code will educate everyone about their responsibilities in the outdoors.
