Pontypridd Summer Festival

Large crowds are expected to converge on Ynysangharad War Memorial Park for the spectacular two-day Pontypridd Summer Festival on Friday August 28 & Saturday August 29.

Fun for all the family, the Council-run event celebrates the opening of Lido Ponty, the £6.3m National Lido of Wales.

Pontypridd Summer Festival, at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, will run from 11am until 5pm on both days, with a promise of lots of thrills, fun and excitement.

Attractions include a vintage fun fair featuring a traditional Big Wheel, Vintage Organ, Chair-o-Planes, and much more. There will also be plenty of craft stalls throughout the two days and traditional Punch and Judy Shows on the Friday (August 28).

Special attractions on the Saturday include the Above and Beyond Aerial Display, along with local dance groups and Sport RCT and their Sports Village.

You may also bump into stilt-walkers, jugglers and other street entertainers during the Pontypridd Summer Festival!

Be thrilled and amazed by the high-flying antics of the Above and Beyond Aerial Display. This international act combines the grace of dance with outstanding acrobatic agility – all taking place way above the ground!

Marvel at the sight of the flying trapeze, double trapeze, swinging cradle and much more – including a heart-stopping finale.

As well as two action-packed days at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, there will also be lots going on in and around the town centre, including childrens’ rides, street performers, Falconry UK and the GTFM local radio Roadshow.

Cllr Maureen Webber, Cabinet Member for Council Business, said: “I hope the whole community will join us for what will be a wonderful occasion, celebrating the opening of our iconic Lido Ponty, our new major attraction in the heart of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

“Our Pontypridd Summer Festival, in the spirit of Lido Ponty, will be a traditional family occasion, with lots going on over two days in both Ynysangharad War Memorial Park and the adjacent town centre.”
