Young Trustees Cymru

The Young Trustees Cymru project is a youth-led project promoting and supporting young people in volunteering to become trustees, board members and youth reps through a process of training, support and awareness raising.

Did you know the average mean age of a Charity Trustee is 57? Young Trustees and Board Members can bring enthusiasm and energy to your board, offer a contemporary set of skills and provide a youth perspective.

The project aims to:

  • Recruit, train and support young people to become trustees/board members/youth reps
  • Empower young people to develop a sense of ownership regarding the governance of organisations and help them realise their potential to participate in high level decision making
  • Support and improve the governance of organisations by diversifying boards and validating the decision making process through the views of young people by developing a truly participative culture

The training course is FREE and has been developed to equip young people with the essential skills and knowledge to sit on Trustee and Management Boards. All who successfully complete the course will receive a ‘Preparing to be a Board Member’ AQA Qualification.
