Two Brecon Jazz Favourites Return to Wales
We're excited to announce that Laura Mvula is returning to Wales, this Summer at the Wales Millennium Centre on Saturday the 11th of June, as part of the countries newest festival the Festival of Voice! Laura is one of the most exciting new musical talents to come out of the UK in recent years; since catapulting into the limelight with her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Sing To The Moon’ and touring the world, she is back with her new single‘Overcome’, featuring the legendary Nile Rodgers, of which is currently playlisted on BBC Radio 1!
The classically trained singer-songwriter's music fuses orchestral soul with velvety harmonies and emotional vocals giving nods to Nina Simone, George Gershwin and Björk amongst others. Laura has received Mercury, Ivor Novello and Brit Awards nominations and won the awards for Best Female Act and Best R&B or Soul Artist at the 2013 MOBO Awards.
The Festival of Voice is a new international festival launching in Cardiff this June, created by the Wales Millennium Centre and supported by Arts Council of Wales, Colwinston Charitable Trust and Cardiff Council.
