Alzheimer’s Society responds to death of Dale Griffin
In response to the news that Dale Griffin, the drummer and founder member of 70s rock group Mott the Hoople, has died of Alzheimer's disease.
'We are very sad to hear that Dale Griffin has died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
'Dale ‘Buffin’ Griffin was a valued and committed supporter of Alzheimer’s Society and instrumental in helping us raise awareness about dementia. As part of our annual Dementia Awareness Week, Dale spoke bravely about his personal experiences of living with dementia, determined to help those affected by it and improve general understanding. We remember Dale saying, ‘It is really important for people to 'remember the person' and look beyond someone's diagnosis of dementia…Alzheimer’s stopped me in my tracks, but I wish people would realise that inside, I am still the same old 'Buffin' I always was.'
