JOB PURPOSE To support in the delivery of care to the practice population working to protocols within a multi disciplined team under the direction of the lead nurse DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Measure and record the following height, weight, blood pressure, temperature and pulse updating records as required Undertake urinalysis after appropriate training Undertake ECGs after appropriate training Undertake spirometry after appropriate training Undertake phlebotomy collecting blood samples by venepuncture and ensuring all protocols for handling, labeling and documenting specimens are adhered to. Prepare samples for transport to laboratory. Administer injections under an individualized prescription. PSD or PGD ensuring safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs Undertake dressings within range of training and competence Act as chaperone Provide health promotion literature Check and Stock consulting rooms with clinical supplies, checking current supplies in date Empty clinical waste, stock hand towels and soap dispensers in all clinical rooms Check and stock resuscitation trolleys Understand and follow infection control procedures Prepare clinical area and equipment for specific clinical sessions including minor operations Assist GP in minor ops and coil/implant clinic Carry out all duties in a professional manner adhering to policies and procedures and conforming to current Health and Safety policies and protocols Provide clerical assistance to the lead nurse including support in the recall of patients for clinics Contribute to clinical governance through participation in risk assessments, audit and research as directed by the lead nurse Contribute to the maintenance of the practice disease registers and maintain clinical records Support the development of protocols within the practice Liaise with other members of the primary care team Responsible for maintaining own professional development Responsible for ensuring the practice medical equipment is managed and stocks in the treatment rooms are maintained drawing Health and Safety issues to the notice of the lead nurse. Alert the Management Team to issues of quality and risk All the above can be measured by feedback from the partners, team members, practice manager, lead nurse, number of complaints and the patient survey.
