Commenting on the announcement that the Grooming Gangs Inquiry is launching a new investigation to “examine the sexual abuse and exploitation of children by grooming gangs and the response of organisations responsible for protecting children” in Wales, Darren Millar MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said:
“I welcome the decision to include Wales in the grooming gangs inquiry. I have been campaigning for this since the start of 2025, when I first heard from survivor Emily Vaughn and have written directly to the inquiry’s Chair requesting that Wales be fully included.
“We now need clear details about the scope of the Welsh investigation, its timetable and how survivors can contribute. Victims deserve answers and the institutions that failed them must be held to account.
“It’s disappointing that Senedd Members haven’t been briefed on these matters prior to the announcement being made.”
