Local MS Jason O’Connell has met with the team at Pontcae Medical Practice in Merthyr Tydfil to hear directly about the pressures facing GPs and patients as part of the #SaveOurSurgeries campaign.
General practice is facing growing demand alongside increasingly complex workloads and financial pressures.
Pontcae Medical Practice currently serves thousands of patients in Merthyr Tydfil, highlighting the scale of the service local surgeries provide to their communities.
Jason O’Connell MS said:
“GPs across Wales are being asked to do more with less, and patients are paying the price. It was great to meet the team at Pontcae Medical Practice and hear first-hand about the pressures they face every day.
“Demand is rising, workloads are becoming more complex and funding is under pressure. We need to give GPs the support they need, not leave them struggling to keep up.
“We must stand up for our local surgeries and the people who keep them running. The health of our communities depends on it.”
