Summer packed with activities across Caerphilly

Families are being encouraged to make the most of the summer holidays with an exciting programme of activities taking place across Caerphilly County Borough, delivered by the Sport and Leisure Service.

Whether it’s making a splash in the pool, learning a new sport, taking on an outdoor adventure or enjoying free play in the local community, there is something for all ages throughout the six-week break.

Leisure Lifestyle will be offering a range of swimming activities across its leisure centres, including inflatable sessions, family fun swims and intensive swimming lesson crash courses. Full timetables and booking information are available via the Leisure Lifestyle app.

For those looking to stay active, Sport Caerphilly will be delivering Sport Scheme sessions across the borough, alongside football and athletics sports camps throughout the summer holidays. In partnership with the LTA, free coached Park Tennis sessions will also be held every weekend for eight weeks at Blackwood Showfields Tennis Courts starting on Saturday 18th July and Ystrad Mynach Tennis Courts on Sunday 19th July. Sport Scheme sessions and sports camps can be booked via the Leisure Lifestyle app, while Park Tennis sessions can be booked online.

Young adventurers can also get involved with Caerphilly Adventures, with climbing wall sessions taking place every Tuesday and Wednesday at the Centre for Skills and Learning, alongside Junior Adventure Days every Monday featuring a variety of outdoor activities. Sessions can be booked through the Leisure Lifestyle app.

Meanwhile, Caerphilly Play will be bringing free Pop up Play and Play in the Park events to communities across the borough, giving children and families plenty of opportunities to play, explore and have fun close to home. All sessions are free to attend, with only the Disability Pop up Play sessions requiring advance booking through the Leisure Lifestyle app due to limited spaces.

Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure, said:

“We’ve got another fantastic programme of activities planned this summer, with something for everyone right across the borough. Whether you’re trying something new or enjoying a favourite activity, we look forward to welcoming families throughout the holidays.”

To explore the full programme of activities and book eligible sessions, visit the Leisure Lifestyle app or follow the Sport and Leisure Service’s social media channels for the latest updates and information.

The summer programme supports the council’s Sport and Active Recreation Strategy 2019-2029, which is helping to provide more opportunities for people of all ages to be active, improve their wellbeing and enjoy sport and leisure within their local communities.
