Sian Jones and Gavin Vokins were jailed for a total of 5 years and 2 months following a drugs warrant.
The execution of the drug warrant on Sunday May 4 at a property on Cae Coed in Cwbach, Aberdare, highlights our ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities in the community. The warrant, prompted by concerns from local residents regarding the use of Class A drugs, illustrates the vital role public engagement plays in enhancing community safety.
Our investigation focused on two individuals, Sian Jones and Gavin Vokins, who were charged with multiple drug-related offences, including distribution and possession of illegal substances. Upon entering Vokins’ residence, officers detained him and discovered evidence of his involvement in drug supply through messages found on his mobile phone.
A thorough search of the property and his vehicle, a White Fiat Panda, led to the seizure of various items indicative of drug trafficking, such as cash, drug paraphernalia, and multiple drugs, including cannabis, Valium and cocaine.
A subsequent search at Sian Jones’ home revealed additional illicit items, including significant amounts of cash and multiple mobile phones, one of which belonged to Jones. Her attempt to delete messages from her phone before police arrival further complicated her case.
On Friday, October 31, they were sentenced at Merthyr Crown Court for the following offences
Sian Jones, 52, of Maes Yr Deri, Aberaman, Aberdare
• possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A – Cocaine

Neighbourhood Inspector Duncan Mitchell said: “The recovery of cash, drugs, and paraphernalia suggests a well-organised operation possibly linked to larger networks.

“This case not only reflects our commitment to addressing drug issues but also underscores the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activities.”
