Castell Howell has generously donated supplies to help keep Welcoming Spaces across Caerphilly welcoming and stocked for the community this winter. As part of their social value commitment to giving back to the community, Castell Howell donated coffee, teabags, sachets of sugar and packs of custard creams.
Donations like these are vital to the running of Welcoming Spaces across the county borough, particularly during the colder months. Hot drinks and biscuits are more than just refreshments as they are often the first step in starting conversations and helping people feel comfortable enough to open up about challenges they may be facing. This creates opportunities for staff and volunteers to connect individuals with the right support and services.
Cllr Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education and Communities, said:
“We are extremely grateful to Castell Howell for their generosity. Something as simple as a cup of tea or coffee can be the key to breaking down barriers and helping people feel at ease and supported. These supplies will help us continue to provide a warm and welcoming environment where our community can come together, especially during the winter months.”
Welcoming Spaces are part of a network of safe and friendly locations where residents can enjoy a warm drink, meet others and access advice or signposting to further help if needed. Donations such as Castell Howell’s play a crucial role in making these spaces possible.
The donations are currently helping to supply five libraries that form part of the Welcoming Spaces network across the county borough.
