Tonypandy Man Sentenced for Dangerous Driving Offences

Aaron Lloyd, 28, of Oak Street, Clydach, Tonypandy was sentenced on Monday, October 27, to two years and five months in prison for multiple offences, including dangerous driving, driving without a valid license, and using a vehicle without third-party insurance.

On June 4, 2025, police were alerted when a stolen vehicle activated Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems, revealing it to be a cloned vehicle. Pre-emptive driving tactics were authorised, and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) was dispatched where they located the vehicle on a mountain top.

Officers pursued the vehicle, using a stinger to deflate its tires. Despite this, Lloyd continued to drive dangerously off-road in an attempt to evade capture. The vehicle was eventually boxed in by marked police cars, but Lloyd rammed several police vehicles.

In a dramatic turn of events, officers smashed the driver’s side window and deployed police-issued PAVA spray inside the vehicle however Lloyd resisted arrest while officers reached in to detain him.

This case highlights the ongoing commitment of officers to combat dangerous driving in our communities.
