Works to address the damaged Pantside Footbridge is nearing the onsite construction phase.
The new bridge span has been fabricated and being prepared for painting.
To mitigate impacting local residents, the traveling public and to satisfy health and safety requirements; works to repair the damaged western access ramps, landing and limited support columns will be lifted and taken from site for repair.
Four number weekend overnight closures of the A467 have been programmed to allow for a crane to attend site to lift the affected bridge elements.
The overnight closures are as follows:
Bridge lift under full road closure
- 4th July – close the road at 20:00 and reopen at 6:30 on the 5th July.
- 5th July – close the road at 20:00 and reopen at 6:30 on the 6th July.
Bridge reinstatement under full closure
- 12th September – Close the road at 20:00 and reopen at 6:30 on the 13th September.
- 13th September – Close the road at 20:00 and reopen at 6:30 on the 14th September.
These dates are subject to change due to weather and or other external influences.
This route has been chosen to allow for safe articulated lorry access / travel through the Borough by way of avoiding low bridges and or congested residential areas.
Pantside Footbridge is scheduled to reopen to the public around mid-September 2025.
The at grade signalised crossing will remain in situ once the bridge has been reopened to the public.
