Lack of charging points risks draining EV enthusiasm in Wales

Lack of charging points risks draining EV enthusiasm in Wales

The Welsh Labour Government have set a target of between 30,000 and 50,000 fast charging points in Wales.

The current rapid and ultra-rapid points in Wales currently stand at less than 1%

Following the Spokesperson’s Questions to Labour’s Transport Minister, Natasha Asghar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, said:

“Wales continues to lag behind the rest of Europe when it comes to EV charging and by delivering less than 1% of their 2030 target, Wales is destined to watch on as the rest of the world moves forward.

“The people of Wales are willingly embracing electric cars and unless Labour drastically improve the EV charging network sooner rather than later the Welsh Labour government risks stifling the electric car revolution instead of fostering it.

“The Welsh Conservatives would establish a fast-charging network of 20,000 electric car charging stations across Wales, but it seems Labour would rather see Wales stagnant, underdeveloped and trailing behind the rest of the world.”
