Responding to the news that Welsh train staff are considering strike action over pay, Natasha Asghar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport, said:
“Rail is an essential form of transport for many people across Wales and any industrial action could cause significant disruption to people’s lives.
“It’s crucial that Labour, who fund Transport for Wales and bailed them out with £125 million last year despite losses of £300 million, act swiftly to resolve this and prevent disruption on Welsh lines.
“The people of Wales deserve reliable public transport, not financial mismanagement and political inaction.”
For decades bus drivers across Wales have faced deteriorating working conditions. The privatisation of public transport means that today there are 86 bus companies operating across Wales. Each bus depot has different terms and conditions for bus drivers.
