Labour must act now on pupil illiteracy in Wales
Reflecting on his spokesperson questions to Labour’s Education Minister, Tom Giffard MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Education Minister, said:
“Claiming to review and address the problem now, after 20 years of supporting a discredited method is simply not good enough.
“Ideology over evidence is typical of this Welsh Labour Government, their stubbornness shows that they would rather see illiterate pupils in our schools than admit they have gotten it wrong.
“Labour cannot kick this can down the road and must start to prioritise the future of Welsh children, follow the evidence and deliver positive, sustainable change.”
