20MPH data shows compliance falling
Responding to the release of the 20 mph speed limit, Phase 1 monitoring data, Natasha Asghar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport, said:
“This new data demonstrates that following the initial implementation phase, people’s habits are now reverting back to before the introduction of 20mph.
“With compliance falling, air quality getting worse and no evidence of a reduction in road casualties; Labour’s justification for introducing this £33 Million policy – that will wield a heavy blow of £9 billion to the Welsh economy – has fallen flat.
“The only common-sense approach would be to follow what the Welsh Conservatives have said since day one – scrap the £33m scheme altogether, only have 20 mph in high footfall areas and get Wales moving again.”
