Reducing the flood risk in Ynysboeth using Welsh Government funding

Reducing the flood risk in Ynysboeth using Welsh Government funding

The Council has recently completed culvert improvements at Nant y Fedw in Ynysboeth and the nearby section of Abercynon Road – to alleviate the risk of flooding in the community.

The scheme has upgraded the existing inlet structure, and installed a debris basin to reduce the risk of blockages occurring during heavy rainfall.

This element of the work benefitted from funding secured through the Taxpayers from Welsh Government’s Resilient Roads Grant.

The scheme also installed a maintenance platform, which will help access the watercourse channel and grille for the future upkeep and repair.

This work received funding via Welsh Government’s Small Scale Works Grant programme.

Following the delivery of the scheme, no further traffic management is required along Abercynon Road.

Thanks to the community for your cooperation while these important works were delivered locally by the RCT Streetcare team.
