Shortly after 5:1 5am today (January 1) South Wales Police officers responded to a report of a man seriously injured outside Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital car park, Tonypandy.
A 30-year-old man has died as a result of his injuries, his family have been informed.
One man, aged 30 has been arrested and taken to custody.
Officers are appealing to anyone around the area of Pen Dinas at around 5am this morning and who may have seen or heard something. Officers are also appealing to anyone else who may have information to assist the investigation.
There is a temporary road closure in place at Pen Dinas along the A4058. We would like to thank the public for their patience at this time and as the investigation progresses.
