Powys farmer being fined £15k for planting trees in the wrong place by inches
Commenting on a Powys farmer being fined £15k for planting trees in the wrong place by inches, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Janet Finch-Saunders MS said:
“Once again, we see nonsensical rules overriding common sense, with Welsh farmers being fined for simply doing their bit to fight climate change.
“There has already been a serious level of inaction by the Labour Government over successive Senedd terms, and silly rules like this will only compound the problem.
“Most people would have expected a pat on the back, but instead they’ve been slapped with a £15,000 fine by the Labour Government in Cardiff Bay and for what? Planting a tree mere inches out of place.
“It’s disgraceful and this approach from Labour is only going to put off hardworking people and hold back our fight against climate change in Wales.”
