Crackdown on criminals using Rhondda’s roads

Vehicles were seized together with drugs and thousands of pounds in cash in an operation targeting Rhondda’s criminals on the weekend (5-6 Dec).
Neighbourhood officers teamed up with South Wales Police’s roads policing officers to stop and search known criminals who are using Rhondda’s roads.
Four vehicles were seized from people who were driving with no insurance or without a license.
An arrest was made and an investigation is now underway after drugs and over £3,000 in cash was found in one of the vehicles.
Five drivers were reported for summons and one driver was issued a fixed penalty notice.
Local Policing Inspector Russel Jenkins, said: “Criminals are using our roads every day. We know who they are, so operations such as this one are an effective way of catching them unawares.
“It’s no surprise that these people who often live with total disregard for the law are driving illegally and putting others at risk.
“This send a message to those people that we are out there.”
