Andrew Davies from Aberaman jailed for the manslaughter of Luke Williams

Andrew Davies, 52, of Aberaman, was sentenced to nine years in prison for the manslaughter of Luke Williams at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court today (Friday, 17 July, 2020).
Luke Williams died at Prince Charles Hospital on 19th December, 2019, following an incident which occurred on the evening of 16th December in Commerce Place, Aberaman.
Davies pleaded guilty to his manslaughter on 6th July, 2020.
Detective Inspector David Butt, of the South Wales Police Major Crime Team, said:

“Today’s sentence brings closure to what has been a complex and difficult investigation.
“It was a shocking incident which occurred in full view of the public and left local people frightened by what had happened.
“But it was information from the local community which has been critical to this prosecution, and I would like to thank and give enormous credit to everybody who came forward in support of the investigation.
“Andrew Davies will now spend a considerable time behind bars for his actions that day which took a precious life away from a family.
“I hope today’s sentence brings some closure for Luke’s family who have been left devastated by this tragic incident and I hope they can now begin to rebuild their lives.”
