Three further libraries to reopen later this week

The Leader of the Council has made a statement about the intention to re-open the next stage of the Council’s library services – extending to three further branches on Thursday, July 16.

Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “As Council services begin to come back online and gradually operate under a ‘new normal’, I can today confirm our intentions for the next stage of re-opening our library services.

“The initial re-opening in June saw branches at Pontypridd, Treorchy and Aberdare offering a new Order and Collect service and this will be extended to branches in Mountain Ash, Porth and Rhydyfelin from Thursday, July 16.  I can confirm that, providing the situation continues to improve, the next stage of re-opening this service will see the provision extended to branches in Hirwaun, Ferndale and Pontyclun at the end of August.

“This will therefore mean that nine libraries will be operating for residents to use across the County by the end of August and this balances the demand against the resources available to us, as staff are still deployed to other services and the facilities will also need to be prepared to offer the service. Further updates and information will be provided at a later date.”
